Anne-Sophie Mutter is committed to supporting young, talented violin, viola, cello and contrabass soloists worldwide. For this purpose she established the "Anne-Sophie Mutter Circle of Friends Foundation" (Freundeskreis Anne-Sophie Mutter Stiftung e.V.) in the fall of 1997.
The foundation, which is located in Munich, Germany, provides scholarship recipients with assistance according to their individual needs. Support focuses on the following areas:
- Assistance in the selection of instructors and the arrangement of instruction
- Contact with renowned soloists and their courses of instruction
- Arrangement of auditions with conductors and reimbursement of related travel expenses
- Lending of instruments and payment of related insurance costs
